Balfour Beatty introduce nationwide opportunities exclusively for Military Veterans

Category: Recruitment Publish date: 01/02/2022

Balfour Beatty introduce nationwide opportunities exclusively for Military Veterans Balfour Beatty is the UK’s largest construction and infrastructure company with nearly 12000 employees across the UK. Founded in 1909, we provide project, construction and asset management services across infrastructure, buildings, rail, highways and power.

Starting shortly after Easter 2022, the Military Training Programme is a structured programme to assist Service leavers in transitioning to key construction and engineering roles. Roles are permanent across the UK, and the first six months will be a combination of on and off the job training to industry standards before joining the Balfour Beatty career ladder. Opportunities will be made available in conjunction with the Career Transition Partnership, via their online job portal RightJob.

To be considered for this programme, applicants need to be post their discharge or near-to-date as these are employed roles. Traditional Civilian Work Placements for those still serving will be considered, but not under this particular programme.

The Military Talent Programme briefly outlined:

  • Salaries will be aligned to Armed Forces Pay Scales.
  • Successful candidates will undertake 6-month intensive training whilst employed, during which they will be on probation.
  • Convictions are not necessarily a problem, depending on role requirements.
  • Driving licences are not necessarily required, depending on role requirements.

Everyone applying for the programme will be offered an Armed Forces Experience Day, which will dig deeper into the skills and experience they already possess.

Anyone already holding higher levels of experience will be considered for other roles within Balfour Beatty and will not be required to join the programme; and instead will be made aware of suitable opportunities across the business.

Balfour Beatty are working directly with the CTP to host an online event on 1st March 2022 to explain the programme and answer any questions you may have. To book your place, please register here.
