Morrison Utility Services Ex-Forces Programme Wins Initiative Of The Year

Morrison Utility Services (MUS), the UK’s largest dedicated utility service provider and a part of M Group Services, has won the Skills & Workforce Initiative of the Year Award at the Water Industry Awards 2020.

The award was presented to MUS via a virtual ceremony in recognition of its focus on attracting, retaining and supporting Ex-Forces personnel. Since April 2019, a total of 104 Ex-Forces personnel have been hired across the organisation.

As part of its ongoing commitment to Ex-Forces recruitment and development, MUS works closely with the Career Transition Partnership (CTP), a partnering agreement between the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and career development and outplacement specialist, Right Management.

Head of Human Resources for the Utilities Division, Rachel Fayers, commented:

“This is a fantastic achievement for our business, as Ex-Forces recruitment represents a core activity for Morrison Utility Services.

As a forces-friendly employer we have seen that reservists and veterans can bring valuable transferable skills and help to diversify talent within our organisation. We are committed to attracting, developing and retaining Ex-Forces personnel within our business, and are keen to support military charities like the Royal Engineers Association (REA) - a truly remarkable cause.

We note the effort, dedication and passion that veterans put into their work, and we are proud to have them among our teams.”

Richard Nelson, Ex-Armed Forces Engagement at MUS, added:

“Our strong Ex-Forces presence continues to flourish, and our ongoing engagement and support has been key to attracting and retaining this talent within our organisation. Our Ex-Forces people have had an incredibly positive impact on our organisation as they continue to adapt to their new lives and working environments.

We are very humbled to have won this award; thank you to all of our people for your continued support, and a special thanks to Sean Kelly (Executive Director and Sponsor for Armed Forces at MUS) for his continuous commitment and support.”
