Herbert Smith Freehills is one of the world’s leading professional services businesses with 26 offices globally. We recently signed the Armed Forces Covenant, emphasising our aim to assist individuals from an armed forces background integrate back into civilian life.
As part of this, HSF will be looking to increase the numbers of military veterans throughout different parts of the firm. New joiners will be recruited as experienced hires but we have also recruited graduates who have completed short service commissions and trained as lawyers with the forces.
Over 1,000 organisations have now signed the covenant. Commenting on the signing of the covenant Haig Tyler, Chief Information Officer at Herbert Smith Freehills and an ex-Flt Lt said: "I spent 12 years in the RAF firstly studying for a degree and then as an engineering officer. I was surrounded by a tremendously supportive culture, an ethos of absolute focus on delivery, and a wonderfully resilient and flexible group of friends and colleagues. All of these elements transfer well into civilian lives and careers. I'm proud not only of the time I spent serving but also that HSF is actively involved in this important scheme."
There are huge benefits that both Reservists and former Services personnel can bring to the business, often possessing valuable skills for a variety of roles. HSF's business services team is integral to the firm's vision and the vacancies span all areas. From I.T, Finance and Procurement to HR, Communications and Legal Project Management.
In addition to this, Herbert Smith Freehills will work closely with potential candidates to help them fully utilise the transferable skills that have been obtained from the military and apply these to the private sector. HSF will also provide continual support through a mentoring programme.
