ULC Robotics partners with utility and industrial companies in the UK and US to develop and deploy robotics to enhance their operations and maintenance activities. Our diverse team of engineers, sensor scientists, unmanned aerial system pilots, and field operators provide end-to-end solutions for real-world applications across a variety of markets including natural gas, electric distribution, and renewable energy.
Over the past year ULC has worked with CTP to actively recruit service leavers going through the resettlement process and looking for a new career. The company recognises the years of training, technical expertise, and increased safety awareness that veterans bring to the unique work environment.
“It’s encouraging to work for a company that understands the potential of military veterans such as myself, and the transferable skills that we can bring to the table,” says Glen Hill, a robot technician at ULC. “Being part of a team that values my experience and provides many opportunities to advance makes this position so unique.”
The ULC UK workforce is comprised of 40% with ex-military, with hiring showing no signs of slowing down. Many of these recruits work within the pipeline robotics division, operating a Cast Iron Joint Sealing Robot (CISBOT) to remediate natural gas mains for clients such as SGN and Cadent.
The ideal candidate:
- A hands-on attitude with an inclination toward mechanics and electronics
- A deep interest in or knowledge of robotics or remotely controlled tooling
- Experience working in controlled site conditions and challenging environments
- A flexible schedule for travel and work outside of standard working hours
