About

As a signatory of the Armed Forces Covenant and a holder of a MoD ERS Gold Award, KPMG has a proud record of recruiting talented Service leavers into a wide variety of roles across sectors, with 100 joining through their growing Military Leavers Programme. 

This is an excellent opportunity for Service Leavers to apply their skills and experience as a Project Manager at one of the ‘Big 4’ accounting firms. The role is to provide leadership, guidance and innovation to the day-to-day running of multi-million pound engagements, with responsibility for supervising critical aspects of audit delivery. Most of the roles are based in London, but vacancies will also be opening up in a number of KPMG’s regional offices.

Role & Responsibilities

Just some of the areas you will be supporting include:
  • Co-ordinating audit planning activity to ensure requirements and deadlines are achieved
  • Developing strong and trusting working relationships with senior staff and business stakeholders
  • Holding managers to account for the standard of audit delivery and maintaining team engagement
  • Ensuring quality and risk are the primary considerations in the planning and allocation of resources
  • Ensuring effective audit governance through the regular reporting of audit progress, achievement of milestones, changes to agreed delivery plans and risks / issues management
  • Line management responsibility for any assigned staff, including imparting knowledge, skills and experience to support career development / coaching of team members
  • Providing project support and analysing data to support decision-making.
Skills Required
Service leavers have a proven track record of delivering at KPMG and the management and leadership experience gained through the military has been hugely useful to their teams. No prior experience in audit is required, but some of the skills that will help you succeed in this role include:

  • Ability to work positively with a wide range of stakeholders involved in audit planning and delivery
  • Clear knowledge of relevant techniques for planning, monitoring, reporting and risk management
  • Experience of budgeting and resource allocation procedures
  • Driven and enthusiastic with a strong sense of ownership to get things done
  • Capable and innovative problem solver with a pragmatic and tenacious attitude.
