Brief Description

We have multiple areas within front line maintenance and each area is responsible for different tasks in maintaining and developing the railway.

Track

You will be responsible for maintaining the track that the trains run on and keeping the railway safe and efficient. Working in a team you will ensure that the track system is operational.

The future opportunities would include the following locations:

Dartford Signal Box, Hither Green Depot, Orpington MSP, East Croydon, Victoria, Norwood, London Bridge.

Signalling Maintenance

You will be responsible for maintaining the equipment that moves the trains safely in a highly complex and fast moving environment. No two days are the same, you could be working on a major signalling failure to get the trains running again and people home or supporting a large engineering project with the refurbishment and renewal of points operating equipment.

As you will be required to work in small close-knit teams, your ability to work with others is a key asset. In a technically demanding role we expect you to have close attention to detail, be able to problem solve and work in a safety conscious way.

The future opportunities would include the following locations:

Dartford Signal Box, Hither Green Depot, New Cross Gate.

Operative

As an Operative you will be responsible for helping your team to inspect and maintain the rail infrastructure safely. Duties may include looking out for trains, completing general maintenance and attending faults as lead by the Team Leader. Operatives also assist in ensuring that vehicles, plant, tools and equipment are serviceable and fit for use.

Entry Level Track: £22,055 Entry Level Signalling Maintenance: £24,858

Technician

In this key post you'll support a Team Leader to organise and motivate a specialist infrastructure Maintenance team. We'll look to you to make sure work is carried out safely, efficiently and in line with standards. You'll personally carry out all kinds of work- from maintenance and renewal through to inspection and faulting.

What's more, you'll act as a Team Leader when the job demands it. This will see you establishing safety arrangements, controlling and checking quality of work, making sure staff have the appropriate competencies for the task at hand, and ensuring vehicles, plant, equipment, tools and material are fit for purpose. It's a crucial frontline role which calls for a resilient approach. Working on a shift basis, you'll maintain the high standards at all times of the day in even the toughest weather conditions.

Entry Level Track: £24,790 Entry Level Signalling Maintenance: £29,750

Team Leader

We'll look to you to direct, organise and motivate high performing team. From inspection and faulting through to maintenance and renewal, you'll play a hands-on role. You'll make sure everything is don efficiently and to the highest standards, safety will be a priority. You'll establish appropriate safety arrangements and make sure Network Rail staff and contractors alike follow safe systems of work. Proactively controlling and checking the quality of work and the competence of your people, you'll see to it that all equipment are fully is compliant and all vehicles, plant, tools, equipment and materials are fit for purpose. Along the way, you'll compile a range of vital reports.

Entry Level Track: £29,671 Entry Level Signalling Maintenance: £37,410
