DE&S is supporting Service leavers to find their rewarding civilian role At DE&S we’re proud to equip, support and protect the UK Armed Forces as they protect life at home and overseas.

We recognise that as someone with a military background, you’ll possess a range of valuable transferable skills such as the ability to work under pressure, good communications, leadership, teamwork, adaptability, time management and more! We acknowledge the importance of those skills and believe the specialised knowledge and experience you’ve gained from your time in the Service can help us deliver the best service possible to our Armed Forces.

Support with your transition:

You can apply for a permanent role with us via the Career Transition Partnership’s online job portal RightJob. We have ongoing opportunities across a wide range of specialisms, from Engineering and Project Delivery, to Integrated Logistics and Security. Plus, you can access unparalleled guidance and advice with updating or creating your CV through the CTP – so be sure to make the most of their support!

We’re also pleased to offer the Military Transition Scheme, offering you an informal interview process with the chance to apply for a paid fixed-term contract as part of our team. This scheme can help you bridge gaps in your work experience, CV writing and interview skills as you transition into civilian life.

How the Military Transition Scheme works:

If you meet the eligibility and suitability for one of our roles, you could be offered a 23-month fixed-term contract. During this time, in addition to gaining experience in your role, you’ll be allocated a Functional Development Officer (FDO) who will provide you with support throughout your career, as well as having access to a wide range of training and development courses. Our goal is to ensure you’re well-positioned to apply for a permanent role with us by the end of the contract.

How to apply:

Whether you’ve found the perfect role and would like to be considered for an opportunity, or you’re still deciding where your skills fit best, please drop us an email.

Once your CV has been received, the hiring team will review it and organise a call to discuss eligibility and suitable opportunities.

Benefits of joining us:

  • Flexible working
  • 25 days holiday (plus one additional day every year you work up to 30 days)
  • Up to 15 days paid special leave per year for reservist training
  • Employer pension contribution of between 26.6% and 30.3% of your salary
  • Financial support for professional qualifications and career development
  • Annual performance-based bonuses
  • An extra bank holiday for the Queen’s birthday

If you’ve completed five years of full service with us without a break exceeding five years, your military leave allowance will be preserved and you’ll be awarded 30 days of leave.
