Combat to Construction
Traineeship - Bricklayer and Joiner
“Welcome to our Civvy Street “

The Combat to Construction Traineeship programme is a Persimmon Homes initiative which aims to enable service leavers to transfer their existing skills into a rewarding second career within the house building industry. We aim to train and employ service leavers by committing to pay you a living wage during your period of training with us. Through Combat to Construction, an NVQ Level 2 trade training programme will be available to support service leavers to make the transition from the military into house building, in Bricklaying and Joinery.

The Framework

The Framework is an NVQ Level 2 Traineeship in Trowel Occupation (Bricklaying) or Wood Occupation (Joinery) that can be achieved with hard work and commitment to qualify you into the industry. The training is free and you will receive a living wage to allow you to complete your training.

Essential Requirements

1. You must be physically and mentally fit.
2. B Vehicle Licence with the ability to travel to site.
3. You must be free to sign a contract.

Preferred additional skills

An experience of working in a construction environment or experience of construction training would be desirable but not essential.

The programme will enable semi and non skilled Armed Forces Personnel to train as Bricklayers and Joiners to NVQ level 2 which is achievable with hard work and will lead to an uplift to trade pay on qualification.

This Traineeship will attract a good living wage, not an apprenticeship wage, which will be £17000 pa and will support you through you period of training until qualified. Once qualified at NVQ level 2 you can earn considerably more.
