Setting Up Your Profile

Remember to populate your profile correctly. This is accessible from the profile tab on the menu at the top of the screen once logged in to RightJob. Note: tips and hints on right hand side of page include advice on using CV checklist, covering letters and email addresses.

• In the Personal Information tab, you can change your email address in this tab and indicate your Available Working Date which should be set to 4 months prior to discharge or sooner so you can be notified of vacancies.

• On the CV tab you should upload a current copy of your generic CV. Without the CV we will not find your keywords and may miss notifying you of a great opportunity. You can save up to 5 CVs on your RightJob account and each application should be made with a targeted CV that is relevant to the job you wish to apply for – always check the job description.

• In your Skills and Preferences and Qualifications tabs, add any relevant Skills, Licences, Desired Industries, Desired Locations (UK and Worldwide) and Qualifications. All can be selected from the dropdown lists and added to your profile. This is really important to ensure that you’re matched for jobs that meet your criteria. Without these sections complete, you will not be notified automatically of any suitable vacancies and you may miss out on a great opportunity.

• Please ensure that you click the add/save button when updating your information.

Helpful hints to get the most out of using RightJob

Did you know RightJob has really helpful videos demonstrating how the site works? The link for these is located at the top of the page by your name once you’ve logged into RightJob.

Job matches

You can also search and apply for vacancies yourself and save a bespoke search for the future using Search for jobs today. When the results are displayed click on Save this search and receive Daily Job Alerts.
You’re able to view the vacancies that you’ve been notified of manually by a member of the CTP Staff, or automatically via Profile Notifications or Job Alerts by clicking on the Job Matches link at the top of the page.

Job Applications

If you’re applying for a vacancy on RightJob that requires you to write a covering letter, create the covering letter in a Microsoft Word document then copy and paste it into the free text box on RightJob. RightJob has a time out facility of 15 minutes for security purposes, and so saving your covering letter in Word allows you to check spelling and stops you from possibly losing any work.

Remember, some vacancies may point you towards another website, often an external company website. Please follow the instructions on the website in order to apply. Also, some companies have different methods of applications, so please be aware of that - for example, it may ask that you register with that company before applying.
