CTP's Newmarket Employment Fair: The Career Transition Partnership’s Eastern Employment Fair took place on the 16th July, and was attended by over 80 exhibitors from both local and national organisations.

The Career Transition Partnership’s Eastern Employment Fair took place on the 16th July, and was attended by over 80 exhibitors from both local and national organisations. Some of the companies looking to recruit from the ex-military talent pool included Amazon, Capll Ltd, Rentokil Initial, Sellafield, Volvo Trucks, Virgin Care, Essex Police, CBRE and Booker Ltd.

Several employer presentations ran throughout the morning including a brief from Balfour Beatty who are extremely keen to engage with Service leavers for their national roadway projects, offering positions form Project Managers to Site Agents. Following the event, they commented: “Excellent day, well organised. We met plenty of potential candidates who were well driven.”

Meanwhile, a representative from SSE, who are recruiting for roles including Smart Meter Installer and SHE Auditor, observed: “All the Service leavers I spoke with today were confident and good communicators.”

Many of the employers in attendance stated that they had been pleasantly surprised by the quality of the talent available to them, and that this is why they attend CTP events.

Driver Hire, who have vacancies in Colchester and across the South West, said “Thank you for the opportunity to attend your event yesterday, an exercise well worth doing”.

Feedback from the Service leavers was also extremely positive, with one attendee commenting: “Thank you very much for the opportunity to attend the employment fair, I found the whole experience both exciting and reassuring and I have indeed already began to follow up some contacts that I made there”.
