TELECOMMUNICATIONS WORK EXPERIENCE WITH OFCOM

Are you from a Telecommunications background? 

Are you interested in work experience before, and during the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic games?

Ofcom's technological thinking has to be smart. That's why they're looking for people like you to join Ofcom RF Field Engineer's to ensure continuity of service for radio communication users at the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Join their work experience scheme and you'll have the chance to use your technical knowledge and brilliant thinking in one of the most advanced RF environments around gaining enviable career experience.

Ofcom works to keep the radio spectrum free from harmful interference and open for legitimate use, such as the mobile phone networks on which we all now rely. Their involvement with the Olympics means you'll be involved too making sure all the excitement of the London Games is broadcast clearly to the whole world, through the provision of spectrum services which enables people to operate.

Key tasks will be:

  • Pre-commissioning of fixed transmitters in the Olympic venues
  • Testing and tagging of portable radio devices before entry to the venues
  • Identification of cases of interference and resolution
  • Re-licensing where this will ensure continuity of service
  • Tracing and eliminating sources of interference

Ofcom's work experience scheme is likely to commence in late 2010 and will offer around 15 weeks of experience between 2010 and 2012. This will include training, testing and preparation in addition to the Games themselves.

This type of work experience will provide you with a fantastic networking opportunity, commercial experience and the kudos of working on the 2012 Olympics.
