Andy Wasley, ex Flight Lieutenant at RAF Fylingdales, moved into a newly-created post as PR and Communications Manager for the City & Guilds Centre for Skills Development.
I think it's fair to say that without CTP's excellent support, training and funding, it would have been impossible for me to get a job with the challenges I've been looking for; thanks very much for your help!
Jonathan Daintry, ex Army Captain now working as a Private Client Executive
The Career Transition Workshop was the single most useful course I attended and I would urge everyone leaving to support this course and to attend it. There is nothing like it for those in civilian employment or school leavers and it gives those in the services an insight into CV writing and interview techniques as well as an advantage over their civilian counterparts. I would credit this course with not only allowing me to understand CVs and interviewing but indirectly allowing me to really understand what I was good at, which career I would fit well into and making significant steps to actually getting me the job in which I currently am.
James Turner, Signaller in the Royal Marines currently going through his resettlement period.
I have recently returned from a CTW at RRC Catterick and would like to extend my thanks to the team. I found the experience highly beneficial and the information invaluable. Not only has the relaxed yet professional atmosphere left me feeling confident and determined, but also that I'm making the right decision in leaving the forces.
Wing Commander John McDavitt left the RAF in November 2006 after a 16-year career serving as a military dentist and is now a Deputy Clinical Dental Manager for NHS Highland.
The CTP was absolutely fantastic. It certainly helped me to find the right job. I attended a Career Transition Workshop which was really useful in helping me brush up on my interview technique and fired me up to proactively look for the right post. I'd also recommend the Finance Briefing to everyone. The CTP is excellent in reminding ex-service people that we are highly skilled - I wouldn't have got this post without the additional qualifications the Defence Dental Services helped me obtain - and these skills are sought after in the outside world. CTP helps you to focus on your next career and I think most people come away with a lot of useful information.
Gemma, former Army Private
The CTP is an excellent facility provided for us Service leavers. My consultant provided me with a polite, friendly, efficient service and helped me immensely with my job application form and finding information about my future career.
Thomas, ex-Army Sergeant, now Telecommunications Consultant at SpectraTS
Without a doubt, CTP is absolutely fundamental for all those departing military life, even if employment has been secured. I gained valuable advice that will benefit me in the future should I change vocation. Many thanks indeed.
Gary, ex-Warrant Officer, now Property Manager at Rockingham Forest Housing Association
Excellent career advice, motivation to achieve goals, interview techniques and courses, support and guidance during and after resettlement which is still being provided - they actually care about how you get on. They will drop everything if you have an interview to give you tips and check your CV. I did the Facilities management course at RTC Aldershot. It gave me an understanding of building strategies and maintenance, and was an excellent talking point at interview.
