Getting Started
Can I come and see my Consultant at any time?
You have unlimited access to your consultant for up to two years after your discharge date. All we would ask is that you phone in advance where possible to ensure that there is a suitable appointment time. We find that many clients will use Email, fax and telephone as other methods of contacting their Consultant.
Can I come back to use the resource facilities at any time?
Most certainly. At any time within the normal opening hours of the Regional Resettlement Centre.

Can I finish my resettlement after I've left the service?
Generally no. Those on medical discharge may be allowed to defer their resettlement for up to 2 years after discharge. However, the CTP will continue to offer job search support for up to two years after your discharge date.
How do I find out what I am eligible for?
There is a guide to eligibility on this web site (click here), but your Unit Resettlement Staff or Service Resettlement Adviser (SRA) will be able to brief you in more detail about your eligibility for resettlement support.
How soon can I leave if I get a job offer?
It is at the discretion of your Unit. This may be helped if the company involved writes to your CO stating that they wish to employ you but are unable to hold the vacancy open. You may be allowed to leave early under Queens Regulations (Army) 9:425 which permits individuals to leave three months early if employment is promised or to commence a college course before discharge date. There are however penalties e.g. those with twelve years service would forfeit their resettlement grant whilst others would lose their terminal leave. Personnel with twenty-two years service must also be aware that they should not leave more than three months early as they would not receive pension until age 60. For precise guidance on this you are advised to contact your Service Resettlement Advisor.
I have been in the Service over five years and I have just handed in my notice to leave in one year. What do I do next?
The CTP will record your basic details but you need to see your Unit Resettlement Officer who will start the process for you and ensure a Form 1173 is forwarded to your nearest RRC for you to proceed with your career transition activities.
What resettlement course should I be doing?
Your Consultant will be happy to discuss the training needs which would be appropriate to meet your desired employment and aspirations.
When will I get my joining instructions?
Four weeks prior to the start of the workshop, or as soon as possible if you are booking with less than 4 weeks to your workshop.
Will you get me a job?
No, only you can do this. But we can provide you with all the necessary skills to enable you to make a successful transition into civilian life. We will also locate employment opportunities on your behalf through our network of Employment Consultants.
