Types of Events

We organise different types of events throughout the UK each year.  The purpose of these is to give you, the employer, the opportunity to meet Service leavers and for them to learn more about different industries and get a feel for the employment market in general. 

The types of events we hold are:

  • Employment Fairs
  • Industry Awareness Days
  • Company Presentations

Employment Fairs

Typically held in external venues in major cities, these events are normally attended by between 50-80 different employers or employer organisations, dependant on the size of the venue.  

You can set up stands that Service leavers can visit throughout the event in order to ask questions about your organisation or industry.  This presents you the opportunity to provide information about your organisation and the employment opportunities available. 

We encourage Service leavers to bring copies of their CVs to these events so they can hand them out to employers and this has resulted in many successful placements.

Industry Awareness Days

These events focus on a particular industry sector and several employers from different organisations will talk about their industry and the opportunities it offers. They are normally held in RRCs and enable Service leavers to gain a general overview as well as meet people in industry and potential employers to ask specific questions.  Some companies will hold informal interviews on the day and if a potential candidate is identified, they can be invited to your company for a formal interview at a later date.

Company Presentation

Similar to Industry Awareness Days, these events take place in RRCs and tend to focus on one particular Company and is represented by members of their staff. 

The event would usually consist of a presentation about your company and any employment opportunities available.  Many organisations bring along staff who are ex-Forces so they can speak about their own experience of their transition into the civilian workplace.  This proves to be an excellent way to connect with the audience.

These events can be followed by a buffet lunch which some employers feel provides an excellent opportunity for their representatives to mingle and speak informally with Service leavers.  Our staff at the hosting RRC will be very happy to organise this on your behalf so please discuss with them during the initial arrangements.  They will be able to inform you of the costs of this additional service.

Depending on how you wish to run the presentation, informal interviews sometimes take place after lunch and if a potential candidate is identified, they can be invited to your company for a formal interview at a later date.
